Frequently Asked Questions

Preliminary and Exhibition Pageant Frequently Asked Questions

How many outfits will I need for the day?
For the Fashion Show, you should plan on modeling two outfits.  One should be a casual western outfit that includes jeans. The other should be a dressy western outfit that includes a skirt or dress that can be traditional western or western trendy, this outfit will be modelled first. You can use your speech/interview outfit for the dressy modeling and your horsemanship outfit for the casual modeling or you can bring two additional outfits. This means you will need to bring a total of 2-4 outfits for the day.

Do I need to bring my own horse for horsemanship?
Contestants in the Preliminary Pageant need to make arrangements to bring their own horse or borrow one for the contest.   We will have a limited number of horses for out-of-state Exhibitors to ride if you choose not to bring a horse.  Please contact us at missrodeocolorado@gmail.com to check for availability and more details.

Will there be stalls available for my horse?
Stalls are available for the night of May 7th and during the day of May 8th.  It is very important that if you want a stall that you must contact us at missrodeocolorado@gmail.com by May 5th.   The stalling fee is a flat rate of $20 whether you use the stall for the night or just during the day.  You will pay for the stall on May 8th when you check in. Please be sure to clean up the stall before leaving.  Horse trailers may be parked on the north side of the grandstand.

What is the schedule of events?
A detailed agenda will be sent out to all contestants after applications have been received.  The general schedule is as follows- In the morning, after contestants check in there will be a Get Acquainted time with the judges.  Following which, we will move into Speeches (impromptu) and Personal Interviews.  After a break for lunch, the pageant resumes with the Fashion Show.  During the Fashion Show, you will model two outfits, one dressy western, one casual western, and answer rodeo and personality impromptu questions.  With the completion of the Fashion Show, we will move over to the arena for Horsemanship.  After scores are tabulated, MRC Contestants will be announced and there will be short meeting with the judges and the Miss Rodeo Colorado Committee.

What is the attire requirement for out-of-state Exhibitors that are titleholders?
If you are an out-of-state Exhibitor that currently holds a title, please feel free to dress in the attire requirements for your program.

Do Preliminary Contestants need to bring a silent auction item that will be auctioned at the Finals Pageant?
Yes, we ask that Preliminary Contestants bring a donated item or items from their hometown area for the Miss Rodeo Colorado Pageant silent auction.  The items should have a total retail value of at $100.  Items will be collected at check in.  Exhibitors are excluded from this request.
